The way I love calling this place is “The Democratic Republic of Spritz”, with a reference to both the political air you can breath among clients, and to the drink they offer me as soon as I land there, a Campari Spritz.

The Cooperativa La Liberazione in Milan is a historical and cultural place that offers a unique culinary experience. Founded to promote conviviality and local culture, the cooperative is located in Via Lomellina 14 and is known for what I would call an “almost fusion” cuisine, where dishes coming from the Milanese tradition are merged with influences from the large Mediterranean or Asian areas.

The restaurant is loved not only for its food, but also for its welcoming atmosphere and historic decorations that evoke a sense of community and cultural memory. Visitor reviews praise the authentic setting and friendly staff, highlighting the historical importance of the place: the person to meet there is Rudi, who is leading The Cooperativa La Liberazione with great generosity and sense of humor. The place is open every day except Sunday, offering lunches and dinners to clients who are reflecting the same spirit.

In addition to catering, the cooperative represents a meeting point for the community, hosting cultural and social events that strengthen the link with the history of the neighborhood and the city of Milan. It is a place where food is intertwined with history and culture, keeping local traditions alive in a welcoming and familiar context.

This cooperative is a living example of how the values of cooperation and community can be maintained and celebrated through good food and hospitality. Its importance goes beyond just a restaurant, representing a symbol of cultural resilience and Milanese conviviality.

It has been more than fifty years since I began traveling across the world — and the seven seas — for work or for pleasure, always with a Leica M camera close at hand. The camera has never been an accessory; it has been a constant companion, a way of observing, remembering, and making sense of the places and people I encountered along the way. I started keeping this kind of journal some time ago, not as a diary in the traditional sense, but as a space where images and words could meet. This is not a publication driven by schedules or algorithms. At times I disappear for long stretches; then, inevitably, I return with semi-regular updates. Publishing, for me, is a mirror of my state of mind and emotions. It follows my rhythm, not the other way around. You have to take it exactly as it comes. Every photograph you see here is mine. They are fragments of a life spent moving, looking, and waiting for moments to reveal themselves — often quietly, sometimes unexpectedly. This blog is not about destinations, but about presence. About what remains when the journey slows down and the shutter finally clicks.
