Brava!

The first time I saw her swimming I was merciless telling her “You look like a drunk sinking frog”.

Then we started an unconventional training plan, having fun in the pool every morning at 6, and Katarina has won her fear for the water,  improved her swimming style and confidence, learnt to better breath and properly use air and energies, and to efficiently move underwater, working on speed and distance.

Yes, I know, my comments have not been always gentle, but saying “Do you think your ass is a cork or you feel you can push it underwater when swimming?”, “How can you keep your shoulders more backwards? Easy, push you tits out!”, “And now stay underwater and don’t die unless I say that”, marked amazing results in less than 3 months!

I know, we gave-up with front-crawl, focusing on breaststroke, after she drunk half a pool while trying to breath under her arm on each stroke, but her progresses were fantastic. She moved from “drunk frog” nickname to “torpedo”, easily swimming 1k way below 30′ and getting to a remarkable result of 52 seconds on the 50 meter lap. I know, we’re far from olympic records, but she almost learned to swim in 6 weeks, starting really from zero level.

Yesterday Kat run a triathlon, super-sprint distance, and she has mastered the swimming stage, keeping then an excellent position on the running section. Cycling? Maybe we need to work a bit on that, but she made it! Well done!

Foto? Ovvio, dalla tensione alla gioia … From tense and fear to the pure joy at the finish line ….

It has been more than fifty years since I began traveling across the world — and the seven seas — for work or for pleasure, always with a Leica M camera close at hand. The camera has never been an accessory; it has been a constant companion, a way of observing, remembering, and making sense of the places and people I encountered along the way. I started keeping this kind of journal some time ago, not as a diary in the traditional sense, but as a space where images and words could meet. This is not a publication driven by schedules or algorithms. At times I disappear for long stretches; then, inevitably, I return with semi-regular updates. Publishing, for me, is a mirror of my state of mind and emotions. It follows my rhythm, not the other way around. You have to take it exactly as it comes. Every photograph you see here is mine. They are fragments of a life spent moving, looking, and waiting for moments to reveal themselves — often quietly, sometimes unexpectedly. This blog is not about destinations, but about presence. About what remains when the journey slows down and the shutter finally clicks.
