Si, Beria mi manca.

Quella dolce e affettuosa cagnetta vetro-comunista è stata una presenza forte e costante negli ultimi 10 anni, con il suo sguardo e il suo linguaggio, con le sue abitudini, con il suo modo semplice, naturale e spontaneo di esserci sempre. Mi mancano poi le chiacchierate che mi riuscivo a fare con lei: le discussioni di attualità, politica, storia e musica che mi permettevano di avere un interlocutore attento e critico.

Se oggi potessi intavolare anche solo un breve discorso con lei, lo farei sulla reazione del mondo Islamico sui fatti di Parigi. Le direi che mi sarei aspettato molto di più. Le direi “Sai Beria, mi sarei alzato in piedi e avrei applaudito se avessi visto i rappresentanti di tutti i paesi Islamici dichiarare apertamente la loro condanna e distanza dal fanatismo criminale“.

Mi sarei detto che qualcosa sta cambiando se avessi visto il Custode delle Due Moschee volare in Francia, e testimoniare con la sua presenza che l’odio non ha spazio nella sua religione. Mi sarei aspettato che ci fossero fermi titoli su tutti i quotidiani del Medio Oriente e del Nord Africa, mi sarei aspettato forza nella risposta.

Si, Beria” le direi “ci sono stati alcuni mussulmani che hanno sottoscritto #notinmyname e si sono distanziati, sono scesi in piazza, in Europa. Mi sarei aspettato – o meglio, avrei sognato –  di vederli a Riyadh, a Dubai, al Cairo, a Damman, a Tehran, a Tunisi, a Casablanca, a Jakarta. E di vedere le piazze piene per dare una chiara risposta a chi macella, e pensa di farlo in nome del suo Dio.

Ma Beria non c’è più, e io queste cose non posso dirgliele, e non potrò leggere nell’espressione dei suoi occhi e nel movimento delle sue orecchie le risposte che, su questo, mi dovrò tenere dentro.

Foto? Stamani poco dopo le 5 ho rimesso i piedi sul suolo del South Africa dopo una notte in aereo, e sono andato in albergo per un’ora di gym prima di una lunga giornata di lavoro, che apre una lunga settimana di lavoro nel Rainbow Country ..
