Aeroporto di Muscat. Ci sono decine di “connecting passanger pushers”: girano armati di radiolina e roster dei voli, e salmodiano mantra delle destinazioni, invitandoti a dirigerti verso il gate. Spingono a muoversi con la massima celerità che le tue ciabatte e il tuo bagaglio a mano, dalle dimensioni da “mi porto dietro anche la batteria di pentole che non si sa mai”, ti possano permettere.

I pannelli con indicati i gate di imbarco sono nascosti quanto le accezioni sincere e intelligenti nei discorsi di Trump.

Dopo aver rischiato di reinterpretare “The Terminal”, visto che ultimamente le connessioni col Qatar sono un filo problematiche. Ne ho arpionato uno, contando sulla deferenza che stazza, etnia, e abbigliamento in giacca-cravatta mi consentono: “Amico mio, dov’e’ la Food Court?”.

“HamburgerHamburgerFries?”, mi chiede, facendomi chiaramente capire che sta facendo da troppo questo lavoro. “Nah, non c’e’ qualcosa di un filo più sano?”, gli rispondo. “SandwichSubPaniniSubPanini” mi spara a raffica, poi si interrompe un secondo e urla “DammanDohaJordanBoardingDammanDamman”.

Vedo un fastfood indio-arabo e ordino una shawarma di pollo, della quale, sono certo, mi pentirò per le ore a venire.

Foto? CostaCafeCafeCafe, dopo metà del piatto di shawarma, e il lunch incriminato …

They are fragments of a life spent moving, looking, and waiting for moments to reveal themselves — often quietly, sometimes unexpectedly. This blog is not about destinations, but about presence. About what remains when the journey slows down and the shutter finally clicks.
