Lo confesso, la storia dell’Islam non mi vede molto preparato, malgrado il posto dove sto abitando, e in prossimità, la miniera dove piccono con buona regolarità quotidiana.

Si, conosco le basi, i cinque pilastri, le differenze – talvolta sottili – tra ciò che e’ permesso, proibito, moderatamente proibito, sconsigliato, e mannaggia-questo-proprio-non-me-loi-aspettavo-da-te. Conosco le varie preghiere e cerco di evitare di offendere il prossimo con comportamenti che qui possono essere definiti “libertini”, mentre a casa cose da educande di clausura.

Una cosa pero’ mi affascina.

Il più grande movimento di umani per motivi religiosi. Sta faccenda del pellegrinaggio, l’Hajj, che e’ obbligo di ogni fedele adulto, in buona salute ed economicamente in grado di sostenerlo, me lo ritrovo davanti con regolarità lunare. Gli aeroporti si popolano di uomini avvolti nel lenzuolo della modestia.

Si sta avvicinando la festa dell’Eid, e malgrado abbia tentato di capire quale sia (ne ho contate almeno 5 differenti), non mi azzardo a tirare la cabala e giurare sul nome giusto, so solo che questo e’ il momento più sacro per compiere questo viaggio, e che le capre spariscono di circolazione: una cosa tipo i tacchini a fine Novembre negli Stati Uniti.

Sto per prendere un sigaro volante, e mi tocca fare un giro dell’oca oggi, starò in ballo fino alle 20 di stasera, quando mi aspetto di cenare con un’amica Serba.

About what remains when the journey slows down and the shutter finally clicks.
